Halloween Color Along: A Spooky Bookmark
nhan nguyen thanhShare
An ancient town, a gnarled old tree, and a pair of glowing eyes beneath the buildings. Who could be hiding down there?
This bookmark from Set 019 - Mysterious Houses has all the details for a small Halloween coloring adventure. This design features an old European town, a towering tree, and glowing eyes watching from the darkness below. A palette of purple, pink, and green brings the scene to life with a touch of Halloween magic.
If your favorite autumn activities include coloring and getting lost in a good book, this project brings the two together.
For this color along, I’m using Touchnew alcohol markers for the base colors and Prismacolor colored pencils for shading and details. Color codes and swatches are included with the photos if you’d like to follow the same palette. Let’s begin!
Step 1: Sky and buildings
Use a yellow-green marker for the sky, then pale lilac for the buildings and tree.
Step 2: A pink glow
Use two vivid pink markers for the windows, lanterns, and watchful eyes.

Step 3: Dark surroundings
Fill the area beneath the town with dark violet and color the bookmark border ultramarine. The marker base is complete!

Step 4: Shade the town
Use three pairs of purple pencils, each with a light and dark shade. Apply the lighter colors to the walls and the darker colors to roofs, doors, windowsills, and wall shadows.

Step 5: Finishing touches
Use dark purple on the tree trunk and deepen the shadows beneath the town. Shade the sky’s corners with moss green.

With those final touches, our spooky little bookmark is complete!

A little Halloween magic for your books
Now there’s a tiny world waiting between the pages of your next book. You can laminate your finished bookmark to help protect it through many more chapters.
Or color one as a seasonal gift for a fellow bookworm. Whether it goes to a friend or a member of your book club, a hand-colored bookmark is a lovely way to share a little Halloween magic.
Happy coloring!
